SURGICAL UTILITY VEHICLE
The Surgical Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) is the center piece of Table Mountain Animal Center's Spay/Neuter, Vaccination and Medical programs. Launched on May 10, 2007, the S.U.V. did approximately 3000 procedures in its first year of operation. Table Mountain Animal Center was built in 1976 without medical facilities, which necessitated animals being sent to off-site veterinary clinics throughout the community to conduct spay, neuter and other medical procedures. The S.U.V. now allows Table Mountain Animal Center to provide medical attention to all of the animals at the center but is also able to do spay/neuter procedures for any animal under 60 pounds. The S.U.V. enables Table Mountain Animal Center to provide these much needed services to many residents throughout the community.
The S.U.V. was specifically designed and built by Table Mountain Animal Center. Purchased as a luxury recreational vehicle, it was stripped out and rebuilt to its current configuration. The SUV feature’s a dedicated surgical suite and enough cage and working space to do up to 30 procedures daily. It was funded by the hundreds of donations received over the course of 2006.
